Activity Choices Thorne
Activity Choices is based on Bridge Street in the market town of Thorne, near Doncaster. Autism Plus Activity Choices support adults with autism and disabilities to develop life skills and confidence. Students can choose from a range of different sessions to suit their own interests and skills. All sessions focus on progression, increasing confidence and health and wellbeing, with support centred around the individual.
Developing life skills - cooking, preparation, healthy eating, socialising, using public transport, out in the community and using money.
Sensory workshops - exploring senses, holistic therapies, relaxation, yoga, tai chi and sensory sessions with a holistic therapist. As part of the sensory sessions a group creates handmade candles, soaps and balms which are then packaged and sold.
Horticulture and woodwork - learning to grow and sell fruit, vegetables and plants, alongside creating products in the wood workshop.
Health and wellbeing - sessions in the Autism Plus gym with qualified fitness instructors, swimming, local discovery walks, cycling, outdoor sports, nutritional educational and basic human biology.
