Volunteering in Thorne

We do not have any volunteer vacancies within the care side or working with Service Users at the moment, but will update the website with opportunities.

Bradmere Social Enterprise

Based within the grounds of Thorne House, Bradmere social enterprise hosts everything from horticulture, woodwork, art sessions to walking groups, gym groups and many others in between. Bradmere garden has greenhouses, poly tunnels and an allotment area and plants up hanging baskets and vegetables for sale as part of the social enterprise. The sessions support people with autism and complex needs to gain confidence and work related skills. The latest projects are a sensory garden and a boat conversion.

Bradmere workshop is a fully functioning woodwork workshop that supports service users to produce all kinds of projects, from planters to fairy doors and supports people with new skills to help build confidence. These sessions tend to be one to one and are an excellent opportunity to pass on skills. Items produced in the workshop are sold in the retail shops and at craft fayres.

The Sea Cadets building in Thorne hosts all sorts of creative and therapy activities from Yoga to art classes. Volunteers are always welcomed and supported to get involved in all activities and new ideas and skills are always welcomed by  service users and staff.

Fieldside Court hosts all kinds of educational classes and volunteer support has helped many people over the years to add value to lives. There are also spaces for volunteer administrators and charity shop staff as the charity shop is based within the site.

We also have a number of volunteering places within our residential homes at Thorne, from befrienders to other activities.

Some more traditional work place volunteering roles within our admin department for people who could spare few hours each week at our Thorne office.
