Volunteering in Sheffield
We do not have any volunteer vacancies within the care side or working with Service Users at the moment, but will update the website with opportunities.
Sheffield Services – Volunteers
Volunteering opportunities in the Sheffield service area of Autism Plus centre around the Exchange Brewery on Exchange street in Sheffield, but can involve sites as far out as Barnsley (Dorothy House) and Fence (Beanstalk Gardens).
Activity Choices at the Exchange Brewery involves morning and afternoon sessions based around creativity and other activities on one of two floors at the Sheffield building. This could involve things such as getting involved with the Health Champions programme, helping deliver fundraising activities alongside service users, baking healthy cakes or supporting the development of the new service user run café on one of the floors.
Beanstalk Gardens, one of our social enterprises has all sorts of volunteering opportunities on a site that contains a chicken run, wildlife pond, poly tunnels, allotment and a classroom. The possibilities are endless at Beanstalk Gardens as the team are known for creative sessions and activities which we regularly report on through the Autism Plus website.
Mayfield Bell Lyres is a fully functioning industrial workshop, headed by engineer Tony Cutts, producing Sheffield Steel instruments for marching bands of the highest quality. The volunteer opportunities within the workshop are many and can be a way of sharing traditional skills with a new generation of people.
We also have some more traditional volunteering roles within our admin department for people who could spare few hours each week at our head office, as we support local people with autism and other complex conditions.
